The architecture of this house is a blend of Victorian and Arts & Crafts design and integrating these two into the bathroom was important to the clients. The saturated green and gold color of the tiles and walls and the Douglas fir vanity and bench all reflect the Arts & Crafts aesthetic. The design of the custom lighting by Evan Chambers bridges the two styles.
The clients wanted a walk-in shower in the second floor bathroom, the challenge was a sloped shower wall. Instead of tile we used Tadelakt, a Moroccan plaster that is waterproof. The hand burnished plaster adds a varying color and depth to the walls.
These hand painted tiles bridge the Victorian and Arts & Crafts influences in the house.
